Fitness Junkies

We all know that exercising regularly helps you maintain a healthy state of mind, a positive outlook towards life and boosts your self-confidence, not to mention the impact it has on your health. Whether it is the gym, a park or your basement, working out can be fun if you keep up with the practice.

What about continuity?

Motivation is key here and I know from experience that even when I got myself enrolled to take dancing classes I still lost interest at times and was looking for excuses to skip. The fun and the joy of doing a group activity went down the tubes. When my mind was willing, my body would be too weak to get that input of energy to start, to activate myself, to press 'play'. Some other times, it was the other way around.

Be creative

One thing I have learned though is that with strong motivation, these barriers could be dispelled. Therefore, after struggles and lost battles, I have finally come to peace with myself. I have realised that we, as adults, are quite the same as kids when it comes to working out. They would rather be interested in doing the activity if they are provided with objects, cards, jolly mattresses and colourful belts and actually – whatever creative you could come up with!

Invest in your routine

Therefore, let me ask you something: How much do you care about what you are wearing when you are working out? We all know we are there – whether it is the gym, park, dance hall- to sweat. We all know we need something comfortable and light – yet, do you know that wearing something you feel beautiful in actually helps you set a routine and keep it up with it? I have experienced it myself so in between wearing a pair of sweatpants indoors and a pair of colourful leggings with matching runners, I could definitely say that the balance will incline for the latter – and I am saying this for a couple of reasons which I will detail below.

Consistency

First of all, this is indeed an investment you will consider when you will doubt whether going for that run or not. Once you have decided to spend on something, you will have one more reason to mobilise yourself. It is in fact as telling your kids to play with a toy you have bought them and they have forgotten about it. It is like an investment you have to make use of.

Start visualising and get yourself moving

Then, once you shop for those cool high, elastic waist leggings, for that unique and colourful design that makes you look like a model from the promos in your favourite magazine, you will know what I am talking about. It is merely a psychological thing – even if you have a couple of extra pounds, you will start visualising yourself as you would like to look like. You will get that supernatural bounce into get yourself moving.

Ready for a change?

Eventually, you would start on adding to your first pair some more but the bottom line here is that you will become more active, more motivated and more self-aware. So, are you ready to change your lifestyle?
