As a busy 20-something married woman who has to juggle work, family and personal life, I hardly find enough time to keep fit. Even at the end of the day when I might be able to spare 10 to 15 minutes to myself, I become too tired to think of doing anything else, not to mention physically exercising. A typical daily schedule for modern women like me often involves getting up early, preparing breakfast for the children, going to work, coming home, making dinner and then tucking the kids in. For me, the little time between these activities is usually divided between my spouse, the community and myself.
Nonetheless, it does not mean that busy women like me cannot keep fit. For the last 2 years, I have integrated into my daily life two activities which help me keep fit while still having fun. I am now happy to recommend them to you so that you can try and see if they work wonders for you too!
Listen to fast-paced music while walking
While walking in the subway, to the supermarket or from my office to the parking lot, I wear my headphones and turn on some fast-paced music to make myself walk faster. This helps to increase the calories burned while walking and keep my body more active.
If you have integrated â€śwalking moreâ€ť into your daily healthy checklist, it is also worth it to try playing some music along the way. You can start by downloading from Spotify a list of dance music with the latest hits. Do not pay much attention to your feet while walking because you will unconsciously walk faster when the music is on. At the same time, do not forget to keep an eye on where you are heading to. Otherwise, you might get lost while immersing yourself in a series of lively tunes.
Organise an active date with your spouse
Parenting is a tough job, but do not forget to ask your spouse out for a date once in a while. When you both are too busy with the kids to actually spend time with each other, going on a date is a great way to warm up your relationship.
My husband and I often opt for fun outdoor activities such as cycling, walking along the beach, walking in the park or playing paintball when we want to have some time for ourselves. These activities help us tighten the bond and keep fit at the same time. For the kids, we usually drop them at the grandparents when we need some private space for ourselves. Sometimes we also hire a babysitter for a couple of hours.
You can start your active date with your spouse by making a list of activities that fit both of your schedules, preferences and physical strengths. Try the easiest one first and then gradually move to the others. I believe you will have lots of fun and be able to keep fit as well.
In short, while it is challenging for busy women to keep fit nowadays, certain daily activities listed above are helpful for their bodies to stay active. I have taken up these activities for 2 years and they have helped me a lot to keep fit while still being able to take care of my family and perform well at my workplace. How about you?
